My Most Anticipated Games for the Second Half of 2009
Somehow we are already halfway through 2009, but the year is only now just starting to heat up for those of us who love games. The avalanche of Fall releases is about to be upon us and I wanted to point out 20 games that I cannot wait to play over the next six months. Over the next few days, I’ll be counting down to my number one most anticipated game of the second half of 2009. Today, I start with games 20-16.
20. Dante’s Inferno (EA, Visceral Games)
Platforms: 360 & PS3
Expected Release Date: Late 2009

This screenshot is pretty tame actually...
Why it made my list: Dante’s Inferno is on this list solely because of how crazy EA is letting Visceral get with the material. I’ve heard everything from extreme violence (i.e. killing demon babies) to crazy amounts of gratuitous sexual imagery with almost no censorship. If you want to see it for yourself, check out the official site to see some of what I’m referring to. This game is going to be utterly crazy and I can’t wait.
19. Dragon Age: Origins (EA, Bioware)
Platforms: PC, 360, & PS3
Expected Release: October 20th

I guess it truly is the age of dragons...
Why it made my list: This game has dragons. Do I have to continue? Oh all right! In all seriousness, it looks like it may turn out to be a pretty fun and deep experience. I also have a fairly high level of trust when it comes to RPGs and Bioware. At the very least, it won’t be terrible.
18. Madden NFL 10 (EA, EA Tiburon)
Platforms: Every damn thing that can play a video game…
Expected Release: August 14th

Madden 10 - Now available on all graphing calculators & the Atari Jaguar!
Why it made my list: I know, its just another Madden game. That is what I keep trying to tell myself too. Then I look at some of the videos and screenshots that have been floating around and they just look so darn nice! Darn you EA. You will fool me into giving you $60 yet again.
17. The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition (LucasArts)
Platforms: XBLA & PC
Expected Release: July 15th

I hope they have added to the awesome of the original...
Why it made my list: The original Monkey Island is an awesome game that many gamers of my generation do not know about. This updated version is going to have hand-drawn graphics and I can play it for achievements. Oh, and I only have to wait a few more days to get my hands it.
16. Shadow Complex (Epic Games, Chair Entertainment)
Platforms: XBLA
Expected Release: Aug. 19th

I don't know what this gun does, but I know I want to shoot it!
Why it made my list: Dude, it is a 2D shooter with 3D graphics that draws inspiration from Contra and Metroid. It’s also being released by Epic, which has a pretty decent record when it comes to building shooters. That seems like a winning combination to me.
Be sure to check back tomorrow for games 15-11!

Ha, I like the screenshot captions. “This screenshot is pretty tame actually”.
Shadow Complex and Dragon Age are the two from the bunch that have me excited.
